πΏ Holiday Self-Care for the Highly Sensitive πΏ
The holidays can bring moments of connection and joy β but for highly sensitive personalities, they can also feel overstimulating and emotionally draining.
As a therapist who supports highly sensitive individuals, I encourage you to approach this season with intentional gentleness and mindful boundaries:
β¨ Plan for pause β Schedule quiet moments between gatherings. Your nervous system needs time to recharge.
β¨ Soothe your senses β Dim lighting, calming scents, soft textures, or nature can help regulate your body.
β¨ Honor emotional limits β Itβs okay to step away from noise, crowds, or emotionally charged conversations.
β¨ Stay grounded β Use breathing exercises, journaling, or a mindful walk to reconnect with your center( yes! Even in the middle of a gathering!)
β¨ Protect your peace β You donβt have to say βyesβ to everything. Setting limits is not selfish β itβs self-care.
Remember: sensitivity is not a weakness; itβs an attunement to the world that simply needs mindful tending. Your body will ALWAYS be speaking its needs to you through energy and physical/emotional symptoms!
Give yourself permission to move through the holidays at your own pace. π―οΈ
